For predictable application recovery across fleets of Macs. Used in production across Mac fleets managed via Jamf and Intune.
About MacReset · Real macOS recovery tools
MacReset was built out of frustration with half-fixes, broken guides, and “try turning it off and on again” answers to serious macOS problems. These tools exist for the moments when traditional troubleshooting has already failed.
If something is truly broken, the only real fix is removal and reconstruction.
The same failures kept happening. The same fixes kept being rewritten. Eventually, the fixes became tools.
MacReset grew out of repeated macOS failures encountered during real-world IT support: broken OneDrive sync clients, Slack stuck in login loops, printers refusing to delete, Mail databases corrupting themselves, and user accounts inheriting years of ghost configuration.
MacReset is developed and maintained by an IT professional and MSP based in Melbourne, Australia, with over a decade of hands-on Mac fleet management experience across hospitality, legal, and corporate environments.
Online guides were inconsistent, outdated, or dangerous. Many only addressed the surface problem instead of the underlying broken application state. MacReset was built to make these destructive recoveries:
For predictable application recovery across fleets of Macs. Used in production across Mac fleets managed via Jamf and Intune.
For consistent destructive resets without manual error. Eliminates inconsistent manual fixes by standardising destructive recovery into a single .pkg run.
For users who understand that sometimes the only fix is a clean slate. No Terminal knowledge required — tick what to delete and run.
For staff offboarding, onboarding, and hardware reassignment. Removes user identity, cached credentials, and app state before hardware is reassigned.
Every MacReset tool has been used on real production machines — including our own. These scripts were born from genuine breakage: corrupted sync engines, identity loops, printer subsystems locked beyond repair, and macOS services tangled beyond manual recovery.
We broke it first, fixed it manually, then automated the recovery. That feedback loop is what refined these tools into what they are today. Nothing here is theoretical. This is battle-tested macOS recovery.
New tools are added as real-world macOS failures are encountered. Nothing is built “just for content”. If a tool exists here, it’s because something genuinely broke.
Development is funded by voluntary donations. Every contribution directly funds new resets, deeper recovery tooling, and better automation.
Alongside the reset tools, MacReset also maintains a live Microsoft Downloads page with official, unmodified Office installers for macOS. These installers are pulled directly from Microsoft’s own CDN and refreshed automatically every few hours.
No login walls. No download managers. No repackaged junk. Just clean, current installers for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and the full Office suite — exactly as Microsoft ships them.
