MacReset Zoom Tool · macOS only

MacReset Zoom Tool — fix broken Zoom on Mac.

MacReset Zoom Tool is a free signed macOS .pkg that clears Zoom's cached data, corrupted preferences, login credentials, and stuck update state. Zoom won't open, loops on update, or keeps hitting the sign-in screen — run the reset, Zoom rebuilds from scratch, done.

macOS only · destructive by design · no backups created

Zoom problems this is for

Common fixes where a clean slate beats troubleshooting.

Zoom won’t launch

App icon bounces once and vanishes, or macOS says Zoom is “not responding.”

  • After macOS or Zoom auto-update
  • Stuck in background with no window
  • Crashes immediately on open

Stuck updating forever

Zoom tries to update every launch and never finishes installing.

  • “Installing update” loop
  • Permissions or quarantine issues
  • Reset removes corrupted updater cache

Audio or video not detected

Zoom forgets your camera or mic permissions after a system update.

  • macOS privacy resets
  • Zoom profile misconfigurations
  • Fresh start fixes device re-granting

Sign-in loop

Zoom keeps reopening the login window even after successful authentication.

  • Stuck token cache
  • SSO or MFA change
  • Reset wipes local auth data clean

How the Zoom reset works

We remove user-level Zoom data. The app itself stays untouched.

1

Close Zoom completely

Quit Zoom or force-quit from Activity Monitor.

2

Delete Zoom folders and prefs

Remove data from Application Support, Caches, Logs, and Preferences.

3

Relaunch and sign in

Zoom rebuilds a fresh configuration automatically.

Manual method (if you’d rather do it yourself)

These are the exact folders our script removes.

1. Quit Zoom

Right-click the Zoom icon → Quit, or use ⌘ + Q.

2. Delete app support

Delete ~/Library/Application Support/zoom.us

3. Delete preferences

Delete ~/Library/Preferences/us.zoom.xos.plist

4. Delete caches & logs

Delete ~/Library/Caches/us.zoom.xos and ~/Library/Logs/zoom.us

This tool does not back up Zoom data first. That’s deliberate — it’s meant to be a clean reset.
