MacReset Network Tool — fix broken Wi-Fi, DNS & VPN on Mac.

MacReset Network Tool is a free signed macOS .pkg that wipes corrupted local network state — Wi-Fi profiles, DNS cache, routing tables, and VPN adapters — and forces macOS to rebuild networking from scratch. Connected but no internet, broken DNS, VPN tunnels that establish but won't route — this is the fix.

This is a destructive local network reset. All saved Wi-Fi networks, DNS state, routing tables and VPN adapters may be removed from this Mac.
A full system reboot may be required after running this reset if IPv4 networking does not automatically return.

What this reset targets

  • Wi-Fi profiles and adapters
  • DNS resolver cache and state
  • Network routing tables
  • VPN tunnels and virtual adapters

Run → network drops → local config wiped → interfaces rebuilt → reconnect clean.

Network failures this fixes

Wi-Fi connected but no internet

  • IP assigned but no traffic
  • Captive portals stuck
  • Apple services offline only

DNS resolution broken

  • Websites time out
  • Ping works, browsers don’t
  • Split DNS conflicts

VPN connects but nothing routes

  • Private traffic dead
  • Tunnels establish but no access
  • Multiple VPNs fighting

MDM & security stack failures

  • Endpoint agents break routing
  • DNS filtering loops
  • Device trust agents block traffic
IMPORTANT: This reset only affects local network state on this Mac. Routers, ISPs, VPN servers and iCloud accounts are not modified.

How the Network reset works

1

Disconnect & stop network services

Active interfaces, VPN tunnels and routing are stopped.

2

Local network state wiped

Wi-Fi profiles, DNS cache, routes and virtual adapters are removed.

3

macOS rebuilds networking

Interfaces and services are recreated clean.

After the reset you will need to:
  • Re-join Wi-Fi networks
  • Re-approve VPN connections
  • Re-authenticate secure networks
If IPv4 networking does not return within 60 seconds after the reset, a full system reboot is required.

Manual method (advanced users)

1. Toggle interfaces

networksetup -setairportpower en0 off

2. Flush DNS

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

3. Reset routes

sudo route -n flush

4. Reboot & test

Often still leaves VPN state & adapters behind.

Manual network resets routinely leave behind broken VPN tunnels, corrupted DNS state and damaged routing tables. This suite exists to remove all of it cleanly.
